Product Description Revolutionize the way you manage your weight and overall health over the long term with this Mio Motiva petite lifestyle watch featuring 2 interchangeable bands. This tool gives you the motivational feedback you need to reach your fitness and lifestyle goals. It's perfect for exercise enthusiasts who want to maximize their workouts with a calorie burn tracking program, on-demand ECG accurate heart rate monitor and much more!
Amazon.com Product Description On the surface, the Mio Motiva Petite heart rate monitor watch--which offers a band designed specifically for petite wrists--is a stylish, everyday, wearable fitness accessory. But the Motiva Petite takes things one step further by integrating Mio's patented weight-management system, giving you all the motivation you need to reach your health and fitness goals. Your weight is directly connected to the foods you eat and the exercise you get. The Motiva Petite helps you manage the former by setting daily calorie targets and recording the number of calories you eat throughout the day. The Motiva Petite then tells you how well you're doing and sets off an alarm should you go over. When it comes to exercise, the device monitors your heart rate and makes sure it stays high during workouts for a maximum calorie burn. With the Motiva Petite, you can literally watch the calories burn off. Specific features include the ability to accurately read your ECG heart rate without a chest strap, five exercise timers (count up, count down, count up with warmup, walk/run, and repeat), Mio's 3,500 Calorie Countdown program, and a user-accessible battery hatch. As a bonus, the Motiva comes with an interchangeable watch band in sky blue and orange, along with the MioSense Guide for Healthy Living, a booklet that includes information on health, nutrition, diet, fitness, and exercise, along with carb and calorie tables at the back for easy reference. About Mio The story of Mio began in 1999 when it was created by entrepreneur and mother of three, Liz Dickinson. Like many of us, Liz balances family and career, leaving little time for fitness. After several unsuccessful attempts to achieve her fitness goals and shed the pregnancy weight-gain of her third child, Liz turned to a personal trainer for advice. While working with a trainer, Liz realized the key to getting in shape and staying in shape is to practice smart eating habits, monitoring calorie intake, and using a heart rate monitor to ensure that she exercises at the right level. Liz realized there wasn't a product available on the market that would easily help her follow her trainer's advice. Liz didn't have time to read labels and carry a calorie journal in her purse, nor did she have much patience for the uncomfortable chest strap she had to wear to get her heart rate. She knew there had to be a better way, so Liz used her technology and marketing savvy to create Mio, the world's first heart rate monitor to work without a chest strap. And, it didn't stop with just heart rate, as Mio also has a patented calorie management system that offers a straightforward approach to managing your diet. With the help of Mio and a balanced diet, Liz was able to shed those unwanted pounds and gain the benefits that come with improved fitness: more energy, more vitality, and less stress, and help many others do the same with the creation of Mio's products.

Like it! July 11, 2010 December Blues (Oregon) I have to agree to a degree with some of the reviews on here...regarding how long it takes for the watch to give you the reading. It's hard to use the watch when working out in the cold (d/t decrease circulation to your fingers)I haven't tried it riding a bike but I would imagine it would be challenging, however I use it with all the gym equipments you can think of and it works well. If I run indoors or on a warm day, it works well. there's a particular way you have to place the thumb (i think) when obtaining the reading for it to be under 10 seconds. That being said; I like the watch. I find that the heart rate accuracy is spot on...for instance when I take it with the watch and then manually it's right there. I also borrowed a body bugg and wore it to compare it to the mio watch activity throughout one days and it was right there probably 200 calories apart but that may have been me; a whole days can create a lot of discrepancy. I like the watch and I'm sure they'll come out with a better one eventually. Right now though it doesn't have many competitors (in terms of strapless HR monitor) i don't think but if I had to choose between this and the body bugg...I would definitely choose the watch. It's just more natural and functions as a watch.
Very disappointing June 30, 2010 KThompson I purchased this watch because I am training for a marathon and the chest strap from my other HRM was starting to bother me on longer runs. I was excited to try a watch that does not need a chest strap. However, this watch is a huge disappointment. I can only get it to even read a rate on me about 10% of the time when I'm running. It just keeps saying "Testing" but nothing ever happens. Otherwise I have to completely stop to do it and even then I only get a reading about 50% of the time. And the readings are crazy, once even telling me my HR was 35 during a run. The calculation of calories burned also seems to be way off. This watch told me I burned 952 calories during a 7 mile run, that's crazy. I know that is not correct. Very disappointed in this product. Please consider buying something else.
Wanted to love it, but had to return it March 23, 2010 Petite Walker I bought the Mio Motiva Petite watch for myself for my birthday. Wanted to get serious about walking & fitness. I love the way the watch looks & since I'm petite, it was a perfect size for my wrist. I had no problem setting up the watch, the instructions weren't too bad. However, when I started to use it while walking on the treadmill - forget it. It took many tries to finally get a reading. I tried holding my arm still on the treadmill bar, but no luck, so I finally had to stop walking to get a reading. Not what I expected. I didn't give up yet, figured maybe it was operator error. I tried again the next day while walking outside. Again, it was hit or miss getting a reading. I seemed to have a little better luck when recording the high & low heart rates for the RCVRY test. But the last straw happened when I took my heart rate before starting a walk - it was 78. Then I walked for 5 minutes at a quick pace and took another reading (while still walking) & the result... 57 !!! 57 ??? how can that be, since my resting heart rate was 65. I just walked 5 minutes and my rate went from 78 to 57. That was it, time to send it back & search again for another brand. I really wanted to keep this watch, it looks so nice & I was getting used to the settings, etc. but I needed it to be accurate & this didn't do it for me. I should've paid attention to the other posts that mentioned similar accuracy problems.
Awesome Motivational Tool February 22, 2010 Mommy S I love my Motiva Heart Rate Monitor Watch! It's great when I'm working out to be able to see my heart rate each time. That way if I'm in the same point of a workout that I did previously and my heart rate isn't where it was that time then I know that I am not working out as hard as I could and I kick it up a notch. I love that I can track my calories on it too! I haven't used the function for calories consumed because I use a different system for that already, but it's great to be able to see how many calories a specific workout has and also to be able to see at the end of the day how many calories I've burned! The only "con" that I have found with this watch is sometimes it's hard to get a reading on the heart rate and I'll have to do it several times before it works. However, this is usually when my hands are really cold so I think that's the issue. Definitely more pros than cons to this product though!! I don't think you can find a better comparable product for the price. I would recommend it to anyone wanting to lose weight or just get fit.
un-serious December 29, 2009 A. Reale (NYC) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Maybe this is ok for calorie counter and nutri system followers but this is not a watch for athletes. Athletes will want to continue to use a strap as this device only indicates your heart rate when you place you opposing hand on the reader nodes. Not practical when swimming biking or even running or anything else. Furthermore it takes several seconds to give you the read out. Maybe this is ok for some but for anyone doing serious heart rate training; don't buy this product.
